Complaining About Business?

Why is it that many business owners complain that business is slow or down compared to prior years. Then you find out that they constantly leave money on the table, that is there for the picking.

I don’t get it!  And I see this all the time.

The other day I was speaking to someone who was doing just that, complaining about business being down. About that time a customer came in to pick up their car. Business owner told him the bill was $350.00. Great, said the customer, less than I thought.

By the way, did you happen to check out the rest of my car, especially my tires? They seem to be getting low on the treads.

The garage owner went to look, Low and Behold they were almost bald. May not pass inspection he said.

Customer looked at him and said, I wished you had checked them when you were working on the car. Now I’ll have to make another appointment to get them changed.

When he asked the customer when do you think you could bring the car in again, the customer said he was driving to go out of town the next day for a week or two.

NOW, Let’s take a look at what could happen.

  • The customer leaves disappointed and hopes that he’ll be OK on his trip.
  • The customer leaves and is uncomfortable not knowing if his family is safe riding in the car.
  • He gets pissed off and never comes back because he wasn’t properly taken care of.
  • He might get a flat tire on his trip.
  • Makes him even madder, because it wasn’t taken care of when it could of been.
  • Buys new tires, because he got a flat tire and figured he may as well change them all at the same time.

Now as a business owner you just possibly lost a customer, lost the sale on the tires, got a customer pissed off which in turn will never come back and never give you as a referral to a friend.

So now not only did you lose the profit on the sale of the tires. You lost the profit on anything else that you may of found that needed upkeep or maintenance. You also lost a customer and potential future customers.

Then you have the gall to say that business is slow and that your business isn’t growing.

If this is how you take care of your clients, You don’t have a reason to Bitch and Complain. You’re the cause of your slow business problem.

As a business owner it’s your responsibility to make sure that you take care of your clients. Do you want the business or not.

If you’re in business, watch your business and work it like you care about your customers.

You take care of them and they’ll take care of you.

It’s that Simple!
